Ian Berke is a former civil engineer with a great love and knowledge of architectural history, and has been a broker in San Francisco for more than 35 years, specializing in architecturally interesting homes. He has sold more than 400 homes, has excellent negotiating skills, and prides himself on his focus on marketing a property for the very best price. Ian Berke does expert witness work for standard of care cases, and does not do dual agency transactions: representing both buyer and seller simultaneously. His other interests include architectural history, collecting American furniture and folk art, films, and neighborhood preservation efforts. He has a degree in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, is a Vietnam veteran and a proud supporter of Swords to Plowshares. He is married to Margaret Berke, a UCSF case manager. He stopped in San Francisco in 1971, decided to stay, and has been grateful every day since for that decision.
