She participated in the Vietnamese and Angolan airlifts, as well as the Hadj airlifts, bringing West Africans to Saudi Arabia for their pilgrimage to Mecca. A culinary aficionado, she attends international cooking classes and founded Pantry411.com, a website dedicated to assisting fellow food enthusiasts in finding and exploring local ingredients. She is past president of Pathways For Kids, is a board member of Enterprise for High School Students, and is ongoing co-chair of its Private Collections art tour.
